Shana I have always been a hairstylist ever since I was a little girl. All my dolls had the latest haircuts and my mother’s curlers could often be found in my hair. In college, I became the dorm hairdresser until I realized what my calling was and went to beauty school. After years of designing hair and gaining extensive education, which included being trained at Vidal Sassoon, I know that what makes me unique to this profession is my ability to see each client at each appointment with a fresh vision for their hair and their overall look. You wont ever get bored with your hair. Prima is a wonderful place to explore new concepts and treasured classics for hair because we are committed to our clients best overall beauty.
Jen has been part of the Prima hairstyling team for 10 years, and loves seeing the difference the right color and cut can make! She has a well-earned reputation as one of the best stylists in Santa Cruz for bridal hairstyling, and often works on location doing hair for the entire wedding party.
Barak has been working at Prima since 2001. He currently lives in Southern California, but returns to once a month to see his local clients. He started out as an apprentice at Vidal Sassoon in Los Angeles and spent several years doing hair for print, film and video. He is inspired by the process of creating form, shape and movement with hair cutting and creating vibrancy and dimension with color.
Juliana Juliana is our brazilian native stylist and has been at Prima for over 15 years. She specializes in haircutting and coloring. Her extensive training includes Vidal Sassoon, Iosh and Bumble and Bumble. Juliana resides in Santa Barbara and is consistently available for appointments at Prima every 6 to 8 weeks. Mimi We are pleased to announce Mimi’s return to Prima. After living In France for a year, Mimi gained a new perspective on beauty and elegance. With her extensive experience and knowledge she is well versed in every aspect of styling and she is known for her beautiful highlights, colors. and color corrections. Mimi is passionate about giving her clients natural, healthy and radiant hair to suit their lifestyles.
Thayse is our newest stylist. She is multi-talented as she is also our nail technician. Thayse is originally from Brazil, where she got her start in the world of beauty. She is capable of transforming your hair with her color knowledge and her Brazilian flair for style, not to mention her amazing blow out ability.
Brandi is an experienced esthetician and owner of Prima, and recently transformed the salon into a beautiful space that is light, modern and comfortable. As a European classically-trained esthetician she is a firm believer that beauty starts from within, and has often solved skin-care problems that have plagued new clients for years. Brandi is also known for helping clients feel at ease during any type of waxing.
Shelley has been an esthetician and resident make-up artist at Prima for over 10 years. She loves waxing, corrective skin care and working with mature skin. Shelley is particularly excited about seeing visible transformations, whether through artfully applied make-up or a series of specialty peels. She also has extensive training as a make-up artist, and has worked on-location doing make-up for weddings and photography.
Kathleen is a licensed massage therapist and esthetician, and has lived in Santa Cruz for 30 years, 21 of which she has been working here at Prima! She formerly managed a dance studio and has a deep interest in helping her clients maintain their overall health and well-being. Kathleen is very nurturing, loves doing massage and facials and is dedicated to keeping us all at our best.
Sommer, our brow-guru and esthetician, is a native of Santa Cruz and has been at Prima for 9 years. She enjoys all aspects of skin-care and waxing. She has a loyal clientele who have been known to travel far and wide for her expertise with eyebrows! She loves her job, and her impeccable work reflects this.
